About

MEET THE FOUNDERFounded by filmmaker Joshua Flores, Flores Film Festival was created to provide a platform for independent filmmakers to share their work, connect with audiences, and build community through storytelling. Joshua earned his Bachelor of Arts in Film and Political Science from Sacramento State University before earning his Master of Fine Arts in Film and Television Production from the University of Southern California's School of Cinematic Arts. With roots in both Sacramento and the Bay Area, he founded the festival with a vision of strengthening connections between filmmakers, audiences, and creative communities throughout California.OUR STORYWhat began as a grassroots event has grown into an annual celebration of independent cinema dedicated to showcasing emerging voices and amplify connections between filmmaking communities across California. The festival's roots are deeply connected to creating opportunities for stories made by us, for us — stories that reflect authentic experiences, cultural richness, and the communities they represent.Today, Flores Film Festival continues to build bridges between Sacramento, the Bay Area, Los Angeles, and filmmakers throughout California.

THE YEAR OF THE BLOOMFor five years, Flores Film Festival has cultivated a space where filmmakers, artists, and communities come together through storytelling. What began as a grassroots celebration of independent film has grown into a platform for emerging voices, creative collaboration, and meaningful connection. This year marks our Fifth Act, which represents growth. It represents possibility. It represents the moment when the seeds planted over the last five years begin to bloom.Welcome to The Year of the Bloom.

WHY FLORES FILM FESTIVAL?
Great stories do not appear overnight. Like flowers, they begin as seeds. An idea becomes a script. A script becomes a film. A film finds an audience. An audience inspires the next storyteller.Flores Film Festival was founded on the belief that when artists are given a place to be seen, heard, and supported, those seeds grow into something greater than themselves.Stories Made By Us, For Us.This festival exists to champion emerging voices and cultivate the next generation of storytellers.
